Recent Study Claims Menthol Cigarettes are more Addictive than Non-Menthol
A new study indicates that people who smoke menthol cigarettes have a harder time quitting. What is still to be determined is if the menthol simply tastes better or if there is another unknown reason why menthol tobacco is more addicting then regular tobacco. Studies also indicate it is even harder for African Americans and Latinos to kick the menthol habit.

While all nationalities have a difficult time giving up the cigarette habit, whether they smoke menthol or non-menthol. Statistics confirm that African Americans who smoke menthol cigarettes have a much harder time quitting. Only 20% of African Americans who participant in a quit smoking program or use nicotine supplements are able to quit.
Why Menthol Cigarettes are so Hard to Give Up
Overall, the quitting success rate for menthol smokers is way below the average compared to those who smoke non-menthol cigarettes. Researchers believe that the menthol in cigarettes provide a “cooling effect” in return makes the smoker want to smoke even more because they enjoy the taste not just the calming feeling a cigarette provides them.
