The front man for Aerosmith, Steven Tyler, talked about his drug addiction on Oprah’s new show, “Oprah’s Next Chapter.” The show aired on New Year’s Day at 9 p.m.

Although Tyler spoke about many topics, including his many relationships and his appearance on “American Idol,” Winfrey was able to bring out the behind the scenes story of his latest battle with drug addiction. After being sober, Tyler went back to rehab in 2009 after a stage injury coaxed him back to addiction in the form of painkillers.

Tyler explained to Billboard Magazine that he got hooked on painkillers after having surgery on both feet. "I wanted America to know that I didn't just go off on my own somewhere and buy some street drugs. There really was a story behind it.” "They love the bad boys of Boston. Everybody's intrigued by the badness of it all. And I just thought, why not just share it with the world the way it really is, and tell them my feelings about my cat, and how addicted to Christmas time I am, and hearing my kids laugh — I don't think they know that side."
