Robert M. Sauerland, LISW, LICDC, teaches at the University of Cincinnati's Addictions Studies program and provides clinical supervision in a hospital-based outpatient program. He has more than 15 years of experience in various chemical dependency treatment settings, and is a member of NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professionals.

A client with an addiction ought to be made aware of all the support groups available. Ideally, the involved clinician will be armed with some meaningful information about these groups, or should at least be willing to seek it out promptly when it might benefit a client.
