The term "self-help" is widely used in the addictions field; more and more, that term is being used to apply specifically to approaches that really are used by an individual on his or her own.
For years, smoking was referred to as a habit. A “filthy” one, but a habit nonetheless. But we now know that smoking is more than that. It’s an addiction to nicotine — one of the most stubborn addictions we know.
