Internet, sex, gambling and other co-occurring addictions that can affect university students will be the focus of a free program Monday morning [April 24 2006] at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, co-sponsored by the Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling.
Dave Greenfield, clinical director of The Healing Center and founder of the Center for Internet Behavior in West Hartford, will give the keynote talk.
Greenfield, author of "Virtual Addiction," is also an assistant clinical professor in psychiatry at the University of Connecticut medical school.
Marvin Steinberg, executive director of the Connecticut Council, who specializes in treating gambling and sex addicts, will moderate a panel discussion of people who have recovered from addiction or who have had family members with addiction problems.
"The Internet, Sex, and Gambling: A World Wide Web of Addictions" will be held Monday from 10 a.m. to noon in Quinnipiac University's Buckman Theater.
