Your family has gone through a roller coaster experience with you; ups and downs, back and forth; they have been involved through the sobriety and falling off the sobriety, and involvement in treatment and non-involvement in treatment, and your mood swings.

When you have reached the end state that we call addiction, you've gone through a variety of phases.

You've gone through a variety of phases including relapsing, experimentation, and escalation (perhaps spending money and things like that).

Don't think that you've gone through this alone. Your family has gone along with it.

Your family has gone through a roller coaster experience with you; ups and downs, and back and forth, and they are at the end like hanging on to the end of the dog's tail.

They have been very much involved with all these ups and downs, these roller coaster experiences; they have been involved through the sobriety and falling off the sobriety, and involvement in treatment and non-involvement in treatment, and your mood swings, and things like that.

You are not an island. They have not engaged in destructive behavior, per se, but they have been actively shadowing you in some way, and they are very profoundly been affected by your involvements.
